I' d like to go back in the summer.
Vienna is a beautiful city, and a mecca for music-lovers. It's also very BIG, so leave yourself time to explore it. And pack your wallet--it's not cheap.

Mozart performed there, Marie Antoinette grew up there, Napoleon lived there, Kennedy and Kruschev signed a peace treaty there. It's the palace Schonbrunn. Schonbrunn is kind of like the Versailles of the Austrian Empire.
It is said that Emperor Mathias II, returning from the hunt one day near the country residence of Katterburg, found a spring of crystal clear water that he called schoner Brunnen (lovely spring). Construction began in 1696. Schonbrunn's golden age began with Maria Teresa of Austria ( 1717-1780) and ended with the decline of the Hapsburg empire.
It was incredibly freezing on the day that we were there. I have never been so cold in my entire life.

In Vienna, at a wine bar called the Owl's Nest.
The owner of this place was very affable and a real hottie, too.

St. Stephen's has a gorgeous tile roof. Very striking.

I didn't get many good pictures in Vienna at all, probably because it was too damn cold to take my hands out of my pockets.
